This breakdown comes from Thomas Mower, Senior Manager of Global Operations at Sisel International – grandson of the late Tom Mower Sr, and son of Tom Mower Jr, Sisel’s CEO and Co-Founder. Thomas works directly with the back-office reporting behind the compensation plan, and walks through exactly what it takes to reach this rank and help your team grow toward it too.
The Requirements
To reach One Star Master, you need a minimum of 5,000 PV/QDV (Qualified Downline Volume) – made up of two parts: your own personal volume, and your team’s combined volume.
Your Personal Volume
You need 200 PV personally, which you can reach either way:
- 200 PV entirely through your own personal purchases, or
- 50 PV from your own purchases, plus 150 PV combined from personally sponsored Preferred Customers (for example, 3 Preferred Customers contributing 150 PV between them)
Your Team’s Volume
Under your leadership, your team’s cumulative volume needs to reach the full 5,000 PV/QDV threshold. This is where the 50% Rule matters.
Understanding the 50% Rule
No more than half of your Total Downline Volume (TDV) can count from a single leg. In practice: if your strongest leg’s volume is more than half of your TDV, the excess above that 50% mark doesn’t count toward your qualified volume. If your strongest leg is under 50% of your TDV, you keep the full benefit of that volume.
What this means in practice: building evenly across multiple legs, rather than relying heavily on just one, is the key to maximising your qualified volume and avoiding losing volume to this rule.
Your qualified downline volume is calculated by adding up the qualified volume in each of your legs, plus your own personally purchased PV. As a worked example: someone with a combined qualified volume of around 129,725 and five qualified star legs would comfortably clear not just the One Star threshold but the Five Star threshold too, since both the total volume and the leg structure exceed what’s required. This is exactly why building genuinely balanced legs matters so much – it’s the difference between volume that counts toward your rank and volume that gets capped by the 50% Rule.

More Than a Number
Reaching One Star is as much about the process as the destination – it means genuinely deepening your product knowledge, expanding your network, and demonstrating real leadership within your team. Sisel isn’t just a company from the outside looking in – once you’re building, it’s your business, your downline, your organisation. Reaching One Star is as much about building that foundation as it is about the rank itself.
Mower Mountain
Beyond the reporting and the rank mechanics, Sisel’s leadership also invests in bringing the community together in person. The Mower Mountain event – held on the Mower family’s own working cattle ranch in Utah – combines genuine training and product announcements with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. As the Australia and New Zealand market continues to grow, more of our team are making the trip to future events.
Whether you’re building from Australia, New Zealand, or anywhere else, Sisel’s leadership team – and I – genuinely want to hear from you if you have questions along the way.
