Extract taken from the article That Plastic Container You Microwave In Could Be Super-Toxic By Oliva B. Waxman @OBWax
“The two components in plastics that experts are most concerned about arephthalates and bisphenol-A (BPA), which are often referred to as endocrine disruptors because of their ability to affect estrogen and testosterone levels in humans.
They also appear to have the potential to impact the development of the brain and reproductive organs in developing fetuses.
Exposure to phthalates, which make plastic flexible, has been associated with reduced sperm quality in men and shorter distances between the anus and the scrotum in male fetuses. A shorter anogenital area is considered “a marker for future reproductive and fertility issues,” says Dr. Sheela Sathyanarayana, associate professor at the University of Washington.
Exposure to BPA when a fetus is developing, meanwhile, has been associated with prematurity, changes in breast and prostate cells, early puberty, obesity, diabetes, and heart disease according to the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialist Unit. After growing concern from public health groups over the potential health risks of BPA, the FDA banned its use in baby bottles and sippy cups in 2012.
Some scientists also worry that the chemicals replacing controversial ones may not be safer. A review of existing research on BPA replacements found they’re “hormonally active in ways similar to BPA,” and a pair of studies linked high blood pressure and insulin resistance to DINP and DIDP, which are designed to replace DEHP, a chemical in consumer plastics that the EPA deemed a probable human carcinogen.”
If your current product is toxic free watch out the solvents in product formulations they cause ingredients to come out of the plastic bottles/containers and into the product solution. Are your products Sisel Safe?
SISEL Safe Products
Sisel states: the plastic bottles you use for hair shampoo, skin care, bottled drinking water can contain the same ingredients. In a microwave the heat makes the phthalates and BPA and.. while not said other ingredients that are potentially very harmful like dioxane too (dioxane is the cancer causing ingredient in agent Orange the Vietnam Vets are getting cancer from).
In your skin, hair care and other bottles you use every day, the ingredients in shampoos, lotions, and water itself, are solvents. These solvents literally cause these ingredients to come out of the plastic bottles and into the product solution. The product ingredients in the formulation also can contain these potentially harmful ingredients. They (the toxins) are not listed on the label but are created when the ingredients used are made. So when you put the products on skin or hair, these toxins immediately go into the skin and throughout your body in as little as 60-90 seconds.
Sisel Safe lists the ingredients that have the potential to do just this. Look for them on your label…some of them are found in ingredients containing these words: PEG, laureth, Polysorbate, DEA, TEA, and more. Almost all formulas for personal care contain them. Sisel Products DEFINITELY DO NOT!
